Circuit 2010 (Serbia, Muntenegro, Croatia)
1.Serbia and Muntenegro
10-19 July 2010
1-st day
Pitesti-Craiova-Drobeta Turnu Severin- Veliko Gradište (Serbia)
Distance- 380 km
We left Pitesti on Saturday (18:00). The route through Romania was good only until Craiova. After we passed this city there where some works at the E70 route and also the way was full of holes. We overpassed the custom and entered in Serbia only with the identity card (fact confirmed at telephone by the Serbian Embassy). Once we entered Serbia the road became very good. The landscape was also marvellous (route 25-1) as we had all the time the Danube river on our right side. We left behind Decebal, the highest rock sculpture in Europe, a castle and some nice touristic villages. As it was late we stopped in Veliko Gradište where we found a good accomodation with only 7 euro per night.

Kalemegdan Fortress

2-nd day-Beograd
Veliko Gradište-Beograd-Uzice-Durdevica Tara Distance- 460 km
We stopped for few hours in Beograd and visited Kalemegdan Fortress (the name Belgrade means a “white fortress). We enjoyed the medieval aspect of the walls located on a hill at the confluence of Sava and Danube rivers. Also we visited the Cathedral and the “? Bar”. From Beograd we continued our trip to Muntenegro. We arrived late in the night in Durdevica Tara after a road through green alpine meadows, breathtaking landscapes and mountains. We stopped in a very nice camp and slept in a bungalow house.

Tara Canyon
3-rd day- Durmitor National Park
We woke up surrounded by impressive mountain peaks and Tara river. The well known bridge (most) over the Tara river was the first thing that captured our attention. Here is the perfect spot for rafting and bungee jumping.

Durmitor Park
We visited a nice old church and a big part of the day we went in the discovering of Tara Canyon, the second deepest in the world after the Colorado Canyon. To be honest, i expected to see something more spectacoulous than it really was. After a very narrow road through meadows and mountains, conducted by our gps we finally arrived on the Muntenegrian coast. We slept in Budva.

Slansko Lake
4-th day- Budva and Kotor
Distance (durdevica Tara-Budva):719 km.
We dedicated this day to visiting two towns in Muntenegro, Budva and Kotor.
Budva is a fascinating coastal town with its nice Old Town Budva and Sveti Stefan Island. We lost ourselves through the narrow streets and mediteranean buildings in a see food smell. We walked through the beautiful sandy beach surrounded by mountains.
Kotor was even greater, maybe because it was no as crowded as Budva and the mountains seemed more close to the sea. We visited the old town with its cathedral and palaces and we had a drink at one of the beautiful terasses in a charmy atmosphere.
Our next destination was Croatia - for which i dedicated the next chapter.
